| The real estate scenario in India is undergoing a phenomenal transformation like never before. Most of the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and other expatriates who are now returning to India in droves consider investments in real estate to be an unavoidable option due to the phenomenal boom in the Indian real estate sector. Recently foreign investors also have started evincing interest in real estate in certain up market areas of Mumbai and Delhi and other most happening cities.
The India Real Estate scene is likely to witness rapid transformations in the near future. Till recent times, most of the banks and other leading financial institutions used to profitably invest the money from fixed deposits in the share market. The fund managers who are adept in managing huge investment portfolios in shares have been entrusted with the task of generating sizable incomes from the money invested. But recently some of the leading banks and other financial institutions have started scouting for other investment options that will give assured returns within a short period. Since the liberalization of the Indian economy, some of leading multinational banks with global operations started setting up shop in India. Recently, Morgan Stanley, a well-known investment bank invested nearly 600 crore rupees in real estate in Mumbai. This is one of the first such investments by a global bank and that too in such a massive scale. Real estate in Mumbai is the very costly in India today. The assurance of formidable returns in the long run is the prime reason that has fuelled investments of such a massive scale from foreign investors. |
