Biltmore Lake North Carolina

A private community in Candler, this exclusive development lies on the banks of 62-acre lake that gives the development its name. Designed as an "urban village," it mixes $400,000-and-up homes with kayaking, canoeing, fishing, on-site retail shopping and even its own café/coffee shop, Mosaic Cafe. Swimming is allowed on the lake, as is any kind of non-motorized boating. The community even has its own recreation center, the Biltmore Lake Club, where a full-time recreational director helps residents enjoy the lake (and all the entertainments of nearby Asheville) to the fullest. It’s also home to the annual Biltmore Lake Triathlon, where flat, shady trails make for some of the easier stretches of the event.

Biltmore Lake is part of Biltmore Farms, originally the dairy farm of a prominent 19th century local landowner, and once served the Southeast with fresh milk. The former farm is now a series of communities meant to carry on the Biltmore tradition of intentionally and elegantly composing human habitation with the unspoiled wilds of WNC.

Natural beauty close to home includes Pisgah National Forest, the North Carolina Arboretum and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
