Ridgecrest North Carolina
A part of the world so unspoiled that it annually hosts the summer adventures of the children of America’s movers and shakers, Ridgecrest is home to two very exclusive, very all-American summer camps complete with hiking into the wilderness and sleeping under the stars. The 1998 remake of the classic The Parent Trap was in part filmed here, at Camp Crestridge for Girls. Just twenty minutes from the culture and citification of Asheville (and even closer to the cafes and artisan chocolates of Black Mountain), Ridgecrest offers a home in the mountains that’s just a short drive from a cup of foamy cappuccino at the nearby Dripolator coffee shop.
Much of the area around Ridgecrest is protected land and national forest, so creeks, waterfalls, forestland and those spectacular WNC mountain views are a permanent part of life. The area shares its name with Ridgecrest Conference Center, a century-old Christian gathering center on the side of a mountain, where mountain laurels, shady porches and natural stone buildings mirror the peacefulness of mountain life.
Mountain mist and cappuccino that some call the best in WNC. The camp kids just can’t enjoy that quite the way you will.
