Woodfin North Carolina

A working-class mountain community of about 3,000 people scattered over ten square miles, the town of Woodfin is home to a city watershed of mature forest and pure mountain water that’s state-designated as being of the highest quality. In Woodfin, healthy living starts with mountain water from a river basin that’s home to bear, bobcat and deer. There’s a trout stream, mile-high Snowball Mountain and evening walks through the neighborhood that can include the slow, silent passage of an owl.

Formerly a home and hunting ground to the Cherokee people, Weaverville is now home and fishing ground for many who choose to leave city life behind for the peace that only nature can provide. Some WNC areas offer gated communities, jetports and private golf courses, but here the local vibe runs to porch-sitting, gardening and hatchery-stocked fishing on Reems Creek.
